Harsh criticism is taking rounds on social media targeting music composer Gopi Sundar, after the release of the trailer of Kali, directed by Sameer Thahir, in which Dulquer Salman is seen as lead. Music buffs are alleging that Sundar lifted the original soundtrack from The Man from U.N.C.L.E, a Hollywood film. The original sound track and Kali’s background music were also released on many social media platforms.
Even in the past, Sundar got brickbats for allegedly copying music from ‘Summer of 69’ for a song in movie named Bangalore Days. The original music is by Bryan Adams, a popular singer.
Scriptwriter John Paul said, “I have not seen Kali’s trailer or listened to the soundtrack of the movie The Man from U.N.C.L.E. But photo copying of any original work remains unjustifiable. It’s not a healthy trend. You have to be intellectually honest. What is your creative contribution if you are lifting it frame-to-frame, line-to-line from the original.”
