Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa is very critical and is on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and life support systems, according to Apollo Hospitals. The chief minister suffered a cardiac arrest on Sunday evening.
A statement by Apollo Hospitals chief operating officer Subbiah Viswanathan, said that, "The chief minister is being treated and closely monitored by a team of experts."
According to the Apollo Hospitals, they had been updating the Prime Minister's Office, Union health ministry and Raj Bhawan about the health condition of the chief minister.
AIADMK spokesperson CR Saraswathi had said that, "There was an angio procedure this morning. Doctors say don't worry, Amma will be fine." "We are telling cadres don't worry. God is with Amma, she will come back. Definitely she will be okay."
