The King of Good Times and liquor baron Vijay Mallya is in trouble yet another time as his staff dragged his company-Kingfisher Airlines-into the news for all bad reasons.
The engineers, who warned of strike earlier, if their pending salaries weren’t released, are now on strike. This strike that was started on Friday midnight came in as a shock to the liquor baron who is already said to be in financial crunch.
In fact, he even asked Bangalore Royal Challengers to restrain itself from taking part in IPL 4 over financial issues. It is known that Vijaya Mallya owns Royal Challengers franchise.
As many as 650 engineers from the airlines-who are on strike-have vented out their anger against the company for not paying them salaries for a couple of months. Even after requests and strike threat, the company didn’t look into the issue, they said.
Mallya was said to have promised to release salaries by April 10. The management, on the other hand, is likely to give salaries to the junior staff by Easter.
Notably, the current strike is a tool down strike wherein the engineers were reporting to their duties but were not working. The management is apparently going to look into the issue soon as the tool down strike will not lead to loss of pay for the employees. (Phani)
