Venugopal is the first Indian doctor to undertake a heart transplant and he narrated the whole story in his book about how he was shocked by seeing the legendary person on his operation table
Venugopal writes ‘Heart Felt’ moments about his surgical experiences in his book. He wrote about how painful it was to treat Mrs Gandhi on her deathbed. Indira Gandhi is a powerful lady of India, she passed some revolutionary governance like the Emergency, Land acquisition rule and a constitutional right for women. She was a tremor for terrorists, the Golden Temple attack “Operation Blue Star” was the true reflection of her daredevil nature. Mrs Gandhi is the first leader in the whole world to talk about Global warming at a Global summit, which was a remarkable view of her future vision.
Dr Venugopal said he trembled to see the slender figure on the bed with blood pumping out from her stomach. As the doctors removed her saree to start treatment, bullets flowed down on the floor from her body, wrote Venugopal. He explains that 30 bullets were inside her body and her face was turning pale because of blood loss. When I stepped out of the room to talk to the concerned persons about her situation all were busy discussing who will be the next prime minister, wrote Venugopal. He explained how he tried to transfuse O-negative blood to her and also explained how Mrs Gandhi died while undergoing bypass surgery.
