Colonel Meow, the forever-angry 2-year-old Himalayan-Persian crossbreed and a favorite with all fur-ball obsessives on the Internet, has been named as the world's hairiest cat by Guinness World Records.
It has been officially recognized as the cat with the longest fur in the world.
Colonel Meow was meticulously measured by three different vets who drew out 10 strands of kitty fur, calculated the average length, which was a whopping nine inches long, and submitted to Guinness. Naturally, the guys at Guinness World Record noticed a record-long fur there and awarded the puss with the top honor.
Colonel Meow was rescued from the Himalayan & Persian Society by Avey and Rosario. The couple brushes his fur 2-3 times a week and use only water to keep it clean. The cat is already a sensation on the Internet with an entire website dedicated to the kitty, besides You Tube videos and a Facebook page.
Colonel Meow will be featured in the Guinness World Records 2014 Edition, which will hit stores Sept. 14.
Craig Glenday, the book's editor, said, “Colonel Meow is being groomed for stardom, and I know the furry feline will be a big hit with readers. He’s an incredible creature, and he’ll undoubtedly inspire people all around to the world to whip out their rulers and start measuring their own cat’s fur."
