Gibraltar is all set to have its first floating luxury hotel — the Sunborn Yacht, a 142 meter super yacht that will be permanently docked in Gibraltar's Ocean Village Marina, located off the southern end of Spain. The floating hotel will be plugged to the port by six strong hydraulic arms, weighing eight tonnes each.

Apparently, the holiday makers bumped upon the idea of constructing a gigantic super yacht hotel after they saw a surge in the demand of luxurious hotel, but not enough space or scope of accommodation on the exclusive island to construct one.
The seven-storey oceanic behemoth will offer plush accommodation and panoramic view of the Gibraltar and is likely to be open its floors to the guests by the end of 2013. The sprawling yacht hotel, spread across an area of 15,500 meters floor space, will have 167 guest rooms, four executive rooms and 18 suites, ballroom, banqueting suites, bars, casino, gym, spa, restaurants, cocktail lounge, pool, sundeck and more. What's more, all the rooms will have wall to ceiling panoramic windows and outdoor area. Be prepared to shell out £200 and £2,000 for a night's stay.
The entry will have an enclosed glass bridge. Sunborn Gibraltar CEO, Brian Stevendale said that unlike other cruise ships, staying on the hotel would give a similar feeling as to staying on dry land.
Despite its over-the-top interior, the hotel is eco-friendly, claims the builder. The yacht hotel is being built in Malaysia.
The Gibraltar vessel is the second floating hotel by Sunborn Gibraltar. It had earlier built the 'Sunborn Princess' at Naantali Spa Resort in Finland in 2002.
