The impact of Global warming has resulted in hauling the town of Kirkenes in northernmost Norway much closer to Asia which used to be further away from Asia than literally any other European port. Furthermore, melting ice has opened up the Northern Sea Route along Russia's Arctic coastline, changing international trade patterns while penetrating deeply into subjects of thought ways that even if so far it appears more like a sleepy county road than a busy four-lane highway.

During a transformation of potentially revolutionary significance, the travel time between the Japanese port of Yokohama as well as Hamburg in Germany has been cut by 40 percent, while fuel expenditure has declined by 20 percent. Sturla Henriksen, the president of the Norwegian Shipowners' Association explained that for the first time in history they are substantiating a new ocean opening up in the high north which will have a serious impact on both trade at the same time arrangement of energy.
