Nitish Tiwari's ambitious adaptation of the epic Ramayana is quickly becoming a reality. Starring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role, the film promises to be a visual spectacle and the recent developments show that the director will spare no expense to bring the mythical world to life. 12 extensive sets are currently being built at Film City in Mumbai and the major portion of the shoot will take place in these sets. According to a report, the lavish sets designed specifically for the film's 3D format will recreate iconic locations like Ayodhya and Mithila, cities synonymous with Ram and Sita. The ambitious goal is to complete the major construction work by mid-August. Sai Pallavi, who plays Sita, joins Kapoor while veteran actor Arun Govil, best known for his role as Ram in the iconic TV series Ramayan, plays King Masu. Yash has signed on to play Ravana, a role that promises to be career-defining. Sunny Deol essays the role of Hanuman in Ramayana.

The production, which initially focused on depicting Ram's younger years, is preparing for the next phase. The main cast is expected to resume filming at the end of August. Something surprising was revealed about the structure of this film. It will be a two-part masterpiece. Unlike the traditional methods of filmmaking where the sequels are screened based on the release of the first episode, the makers of Ramayana have taken a more proactive approach. The second part will largely be shot at the same time as the first part. The production schedule is a carefully crafted 350-day plan that includes individual and group sequences. The goal is to complete principal photography for both episodes by December 2025 to allow enough time for post-production. Post-production is carried out by the renowned visual effects studio DNEG. The release date has not been announced yet but will be announced after the first episode is completed.
