According to police investigations, television actor Pratyusha Banerjee (24) probably took her life due to financial distress. As a part of the investigation, police are studying Pratyusha’s three bank accounts, which are all joint.

Banerjee is well known for her bubbly role in Balika Vadhu, popular TV serial . She had allegedly committed suicide at her Goregaon home on Friday. Pratyusha’s boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh rushed her to Kokilaben Ambani Hospital after allegedly finding her body hanging. They both shared the flat.

Meanwhile, on the second day of questioning, Singh was hospitalized on complaints like low blood pressure and chest pain. He was taken on Sunday to Shree Sai Hospital in Kandivli.

An officer, who refused to reveal the balance in her bank accounts, said that, “No reason has been found yet to make a cognizable complaint of the incident and neither have we recovered any suicide note. We are studying Banerjee’s bank accounts. The suicide is believed to be due to severe financial distress. According to the statements of Banerjee’s family, she did not have a lot of money as she did not have a regular income.”

“Singh has also told us that he had recently given a large installment to help Banerjee with a personal loan. We are trying to check that with the bank details. We have not found evidence to book Singh yet,” said the police officer.

Banerjee used to live in Kandivli with her parents. She shifted to her boy friend’s place in Goregaon. Singh has been residing there for ten years.

An officer said, “Doctors who conducted Banerjee’s postmortem believe that it is a case of suicide but we are checking everything. We even used a measuring tape to calculate the distance of the ceiling fan to the sofa that Banerjee supposedly used to climb on to hang herself.”
