Emraan Hashmi-starrer, 'Azhar' was in shoot at the Osmania University in Hyderabad on Sunday morning, when a bunch of aggressive union members marched in and disrupted the shooting. Nearly 2000 men came together to interrupt the shoot of Anthony D'Souza's ‘Azhar'. Anthony planned a four-day schedule at the University for the courtroom sequence.
Anthony admitted that, "We had all the necessary permits to shoot in the university. But there was some kind of miscommunication among the institution's 32 unions.Nearly 4,000 union members were stationed outside the gates since early morning. It was quite scary."
"The university's management was co-operative but the incident was quite disturbing," the director said.
Anthony added that Emraan was keen on having a word with the group, but was dissuaded due to security concerns.
Anthony and Emraan were taken and locked inside a room until police reached to safely escort them. Actresses Prachi Desai, Lara Dutta, and Nargis Fakhri were sent back to the hotel, when they were on their way to reach the location.
Anthony asserted that, "It was just not possible to shoot at the University yesterday. We are yet to decide on our next plan of action."
"We will scout for another location for the courtroom sequence and finish shooting the other parts meanwhile. We don't intend to waste any more dates," Anthony said. The film is based on the life of former Indian captain Mohd. Azharuddin.
